About the Event


The 2024 Building Futures Conference will bring together Alberta's Skilled Trades Instructors for two and half days of education, engagement, and collaboration. Showcasing success, advocacy for common issues, exposure to new techniques and technologies, this conference offers delegates a chance to network and learn from industry leaders.

Delegates from across Canada will participate and engage in a welcome reception, keynote presentations and numerous educational break-out sessions.

We will be focusing our content in three educational streams:

  1. Technology Advancement, to include Green Technology
  2. Teaching and Learning, with such topics as Diversity and Inclusion, Reconciliation and Adult education
  3. Business Leadership, with discussions around mentorship, coaching leaders, and professional development for new instructors

You will need to pay through a SAIT sponsored secure link . Once payment is received you will be directed to the registration page.
You’ll need to fill out our registration form to gain access to the event.
No refunds will be issued for cancellations. Delegates can transfer their Conference Pass between participants from the same organization. Substitution requests must be made to Building Futures by email buildingfutures@getvfairs.io and received before Friday, March 15, 2024
The summit is hosted by the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, SAIT. Managed by Alberta Deans of Apprenticeship & Trades, ADAT. The information you provide upon registration will be used to establish you as a user on the platform and to create your login credentials. Your registration information (name, location, educational institution/company) will also be used for reporting purposes of these parties. Personal registration information will not be used by or shared with other parties and will be kept confidential in accordance with the Canadian Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act. Images, video, comments, engagement feedback, and evaluation feedback captured at the conference will be used for qualitative and quantitative storytelling to partners and stakeholders, on social media, and other mediums.
Attendees can request food preferences upon registration. Please note: All food will be prepared in a communal kitchen. While the best efforts will be made to ensure there is no cross-contamination of allergens, we cannot guarantee that food will not come in contact with trace allergens.
There is no accommodation on-site. Please check the Travel and Accommodation page for more information on hotels located close to the conference.

Travel & Accommodation

Are you coming from out of town and want to enjoy Calgary while you are here? We will have some great networking opportunities during the conference and an evening reception starting at 7pm, April 23rd. If you would like to extend your stay, visit Tourism Calgary for information on things to see and do.

Accommodations: There are no onsite accommodations available, however there are a few hotels in the area we recommend. These are a short drive, or C-Train ride to campus.

SAIT is thrilled to host the inaugural Alberta Skilled Trades Instructor Conference. Officially known as the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), we’re a community of thinkers, creators and champions leading change and reimagining the workforce of tomorrow.

Located northwest of downtown Calgary, SAIT boasts a beautiful campus, with breathtaking views of the city and the world-famous Rocky Mountains.
